Yes, indeed! And I am thrilled with the artist’s concept of the story. She caught all the important ideas in one picture.

I am impatiently waiting for the manuscript to return, so I can look it over again and sign off on the final. My manicurist is going to hate me….

Sorry Diane.

Anyway, watch for the release of  Gambler’s Folly, coming in July.

Ciao, amici.

December is here, and that means most of us will be buying gifts for friends and family. I always enjoyed receiving gifts which would last, that I could keep and enjoy for years to come. One of my favorites was a good book. I still have books from when I was in grade school. And that’s been a while. I also have one of my favorites that I bought for  25 cents at a thrift store one summer, By Right of Conquest, by Arthur Hornblow. It is a romance from another era, copyright 1909. I’ve moved this book from Ohio to California, Oregon to Georgia, and everywhere in between. Every couple of years or so, I dust it  off and enjoy the journey once more.

Why not find a good book for the readers on your list this year?  There are a lot of them out there, for readers of every kind. And if you simply must have something electronic, check out some of the e-readers available. My husband enjoys being able to take his library with him when he travels for work. Since he may be gone for weeks or months at a time, having a good selection of reading material with him helps pass the time in foreign climes.  As a nurse, our daughter enjoys having something small to take with her if she’s sitting up all night with a patient. And our grandson just likes his Kindle because its cool.

Check out the books on Amazon.com. You can buy electronic versions of many favorites, lend them to others, or just check them out of the library. Or if you’re like me and savor the feel of a good book in your hands, you can get those as well.

While you’re there, check out my stories at:

Or you can buy Jareth: First Lord in paperback at:

Have fun shopping.  Keep safe and have a wonderful holiday.

After a week of chilly, wintry temperatures down here, we’ve had a break today, with highs around 70.  I know, for those of you in the north and Rocky mountain regions, the temperatures we’ve had all week were warm by comparison. But this is the first year in a long time I’ve had to actually build an evening fire in October.

But with the respite from the cold today, at least this afternoon,  we had a reminder that winter is on the way and it’s time to get all those things done outside. Make sure the firewood is covered, get the larger logs split before you really need them and mulch all those lovely plants so they’ll survive the cold later, while you’re inside drinking cocoa and reading a good book by that fire.

I enjoy the changing seasons. Winter gives me the time to do some of the other things I enjoy, like baking whole grain bread, simmering vegetable soups all afternoon so the flavors  blend deliciously, and making banana nut bread for the boys to enjoy, when they come in from the outdoors. All those wonderful kitchen things which are so very much too warm  in the summer’s heat.

So I think I’ll give Gambler’s Folly a miss for today. I can write some more on it tomorrow. But for today, I’ll go outside and see what I can do in the sun, before the cold comes back for the winter.

If you’re looking for something to read, check out some of my books on amazon. They go well with cocoa and a fire….

I’ve had some questions about Jareth and the Talents. What are the Talents and where do they come from? If you read the prologue, you read that Esperance was discovered by remote-viewing, the ability to view distant places psychically. This is one of the Talents the First Lords develop as descendants of the Seekers.

But what are the Talents? They can include nearly anything. A master musician who can sway an audience with his performance can be a Talent. An energy healer is a Talent. Anyone who seems to more connected to his or her craft than is normal could be a Talent.

Some of the Talents are empaths, who can tune into someone else’s emotions. Some are telepaths, who either read the thoughts of others, can send thoughts to others, or who can do both.

Usually, Wild Talents have only one enhanced ability. The First Lords on the other hand, since they are the closest descendants of the Seekers, have abilities in many areas which have been exercised and trained since childhood. This is what gives them the insight and strength to rule their clans.

But for more information on the Talents, watch for the debut of the second book in the series, Viviane: First Lady. This book begins with Jareth and Viviane’s marriage and continues through discovering and training her Talents.

Hope this helps those of you who are confused.

If you’ve not read Jareth: First Lord, it is available at:

Happy reading,
Mellie
