Of course, it’s raining here in Georgia, so I think the barbecue is off for the afternoon. But at least my guy made it home for the weekend. We can cook indoors and watch a movie with the cats. They are, of course, pointedly ignoring him for being gone.

Hope you’re all having a wonderful Father’s Day. Give that guy a hug while you have him here. You never know when his time on earth will be over.

My latest WIP is set on Esperance and features Ben, the son of the village blacksmith, of Blacksmith’s Forge. His family and the Wills family have been friends far longer than Ben has been alive, and he has always been fond of Deborah, the eldest Wills daughter.

But something happened when he went away for a few years to finish training for his journeyman’s ranking. When he returned to his home village, she was distant, angry, and did her best to drive him away. While he was saddened by her demeanor, it was her choice.

Until her father chose to arrange a marriage for her. And his father suggested he go and talk to Mr. Wills about it.

How about an excerpt from Ben of Blackstone’s Forge?

“Come here, little girl,” he said, taking her into his arms. “Why didn’t

you come to me when I got back?”

“I was afraid of him, and afraid of how you would react. I thought you’d

never want to see me again.”

“Is that why you put on the wicked witch act?” he asked.

“Yes. I thought if I drove you away, I wouldn’t have to deal with any of this.”

Thinking back on growing up in the village, he had to shake his head.

“Deb, who has always been there for you?”

“You have, Ben.”

“And who has looked after you?”

“You again.”

“Who took the whipping for the window you broke out of old Mrs.

Covington’s front room?”

“I’m so sorry, Ben. I would have confessed.”

“Yes, but then you would have got the whipping, and I couldn’t stand seeing you cry.”

“I’m sorry.”

“And who climbed twenty feet up a damned tree to fetch down a kitten

who didn’t want to be rescued?” he demanded.

With a giggle, she admitted it was him.

“Yeah. And the little bastard tried to claw his way out of my shirt. All those

little claws hooked into my chest as he tried to climb out. I could have bled

to death.”

“Now, Ben, I got the disinfectant and washed all the scratches,” she

reminded him.

“Which was nearly as bad as the scratches. That stuff burned.”

“It wasn’t that bad. You were just being a baby. I put some healing ointment on afterwards.”

“Which did nothing for the pain, I might add.”

“You are such a wimp, Ben Blackstone.”

After a quiet moment of reflection, he looked over and said, “We had some fun, didn’t we?”

“We did.”

Watch for Blackstone’s Forge.

I’m working on Book 4 from EsperanceTalents. It picks up the story of Connell, newly chosen heir of Belfort, while it continues with Viviane’s struggle with her Talents, those magical abilities she inherited from her father.

When the story begins, Connell is ten years old and about to go live with his grandparents where he can train more intensely with his Talents. And Viviane’s Talents are misbehaving after she nearly killed her traitorous brother Carl at his trial.

While you’re waiting for Talents, check out Book 3Morgan–The Pixie and the Green Man. If you don’t like Kindle, Morgan is also available at Barnes and Noble, Books-a-Million, and at Smashwords.

Here’s a little teaser from Morgan.

“Are you sure you want to go out with me? There must be someone more suitable.”

“No, there isn’t. We’ve been over that ground before. Lord or not, I know when I’ve found something I like.”

“I still don’t understand it,” Morgan insisted. “As much damage as I carry from my past, I’m permanently flawed. Someone with your family and upbringing should be able to do better than me.”

James shook his head in wonder. She really couldn’t see her beauty, could she?

“Morgan, some species of trees are susceptible to particular fungal infestations or viruses, which make them unsuitable for lumber. But the same disease produces beautiful patterns in the wood, making it prized for its artistic qualities. The paneling from these trees is probably ten times the cost of what the lumber would be.”

“What does this have to do with me?” Morgan asked.

“Jewels can sometimes have flaws. Usually this makes them less valuable. But on occasion, the flaw makes the jewel worth more than its weight in gold.”

“What are you trying to say, James?”

“I’m saying that perhaps what I like about you wouldn’t be there if the flaw was missing. Your attitude, your sense of humor, or the way you always get back up and carry on when faced with adversity, spring from your past.”

“Don’t be daft.”

“I’m not. Your past is what made you who you are today–the beautiful woman I love. ”

Ciao for now everyone.

Between the weather and this bug I’ve been fighting, the year has been a little harsh so far.

What is everyone up to?

I’ve been away from the blog for a while, due to the aforementioned issues, but I hope to be back on a more regular basis.

Still trying to get Master of the Fleet out. We’re having cover issues, as usual. Why is it that no matter what sort of guy I’m looking for, he doesn’t exist when I need him for cover art?

Anyway, stay warm and safe out there. I’ll try to do the same…

If you can’t take the time off right, now, how about a literary vacation? Visit a place that exists only in the mind of a half-crazed author…

I have two series going right now. One is Esperance–a highland world full of magic, mischief, and romance. Book one introduces Jareth and Viviane and follows their courtship. Book two follows Viviane’s attempts to gain control over her blossoming psychic talents. And Book 3 tells of Morgan’s and James’ romance.

The second is Speranza–a futuristic world with shape-shifters of all sorts. Book one takes place on the pleasure world, Gambler’s Folly. The second follows Damiano and Karianna to Earth, where Dante meets his soulmate, throwing the whole family and wedding plans into chaos.

So if you can’t take a vacation right now, take a little time and visit one of these worlds. You’ll always be welcome.

Yes, as of September 1, 2017, the Esperance Books on Smashwords and Barnes and Noble will go up to their regular pricing.

But between now and then, you can pre-order them for $0.99 each!

Jareth, First Lord–Book 1

Viviane, First Lady--Book 1

Morgan–The Pixie and the Green Man–Book 3

What are people saying about these books?

Jareth, First Lord

“It matters not the time nor place. Past, present, future. This lifetime or the next. This planet or another world entirely. We women have always possessed our very own unique voices. Even embedded deep within a book entitled ‘Jareth, First Lord’! Full of fire and determination, desires and willfulness, thoughts, feelings and opinions wrought with emotions. The very thing that society is afraid of. We have been silently submissive way too long. Viviane appears in ‘Jareth, First Lord’ so full of life. She won’t go without a fight. Her voice will be heard and with such an extraordinary gift, she demands to be obeyed… Even if she doesn’t know it.

Set in a fantastical, futuristic, historical, other worldly setting, ‘Jareth, First Lord’ is bound to take you on a trip of your imaginations’ lifetime.”

Morgan–The Pixie and the Green Man

“An enchanting love story that touches the heart and engages the mind from beginning to end. The characters are so real it feels as if they could jump of the page. Enjoyed every page of this wonderful tale.”

So go over and pre-order your copy today!

And here it is, the next to last weekend in July. Where has summer gone?

I am in a quandary. This summer I’ve published two books, one in each series. Now, I have other books planned for each, but I also have a couple stand-alones which are nearly ready to publish.

My question is–which would you rather see?

A sequel to Esperance?

A sequel to Speranza–following Dante’s Angel?

Or a stand-alone in an alternate timeline of America, with paranormal aspects?

Right at the moment, I’m leaning toward the stand-alone, but  I would like your opinion.

Either comment here, or go to http://www.facebook.com/meleighscreations and leave a comment.

What sequel, you ask? The first sequel to Gambler’s Folly–Dante’s Angel!

After being “arrested” in their last adventure in Gambler’s Folly, Damiano and Karianna return to Earth for their big church wedding. Of course their friends, Marco, Paul, and Dante travel with them to share the event.

Only Dante has never left Gambler’s Folly. And women leave him tongue-tied. So leaving his home world and going to a wedding only point out his very single status to him and make him homesick.

Who could have imagined that his soul mate has been there on Earth waiting for him? And who could have guessed she would be  Damiano’s headstrong cousin, Angela?

DANTE’S ANGEL is now available for pre-order for Kindle, or in paperback!
