Several years ago, before I began working on Gambler’s Folly, I wrote a very long book. My first. Even then, I realized I would have to make at least two books out of it. The word count was astronomical.

It has been on the back burner since then. Recently, while I was going through some of my files, I saw it hiding in there among the rest of the To Do items and decided to drag it out and have a look.

I still love the story, but it will take a lot of work. So while I’m finishing the ending of Lady Calloway, I’ve pulled out Mistaken Identity to edit. I’m about halfway through the first round, and it will take several rounds before it’s even ready to send to an editor.

What is it about?

When Earth began to expand outward into space, they came across a star system with two habitable planets. Since them, both planets have been transformed into worlds for colonization and have been thriving.

Unfortunately, they don’t get along.

She is a music instructor at the university on her world, former military, and has a love of the martial arts.

He is the commander of a large regional military base on his world. When a tactical strike at their neighboring world brings her to his facility, he doesn’t realize she’s the answer to his current interplanetary problem.

All she wants is to go home, but that is forever forbidden. The last thing she wants is to fall in love.

While you’re waiting for new releases, why not check out some old ones? You can find my books at both Amazon and Smashwords. And watch for the release of The Russian, Book 3 from Gambler’s Folly.

Colonized and then abandoned, Esperance was torn apart by disease and unrest when supplies from Earth failed to appear. After a short time, chaos reigned, as those few left clawed for survival in the ruins of their past.

Eventually a few men rose out of the chaos, men with unusual abilities, who brought back the rule of law. Dividing the lands and people into clans, they built a world of their own on the ashes of the old.

Several hundred years later, a strong leader rose in Clan Brannach–First Lord Jareth. Young, widowed, with no heir, he knows he must find a mate, but his heart isn’t in it.

Until he meets Viviane.

The youngest daughter of the House of Belfort, Viviane is a young widow, having recently lost her husband to an accident. Wanting to remain independent from her family, she is nearly out of options when First Lord Jareth rides in with demands, including The Choosing.

Now one of the chosen, she is taken from her clan to Clan Brannach, to be courted by this dark, powerful, and mysterious First Lord.

But can she open her heart to love once again?

Come with me and meet the people of Esperance–Jareth and Viviane, James and Morgan, Connell and Nellie, Ben and Deborah…

Follow their lives and loves on this highland world full of mischief, romance and magic.

I hadn’t intended to write a series when I began. I really hadn’t. Things just  got out of hand.

When I originally wrote Jareth, First Lord, I had assumed it would be a stand-alone. But I decided I really wanted to continue on with Viviane’s story.

So I began to write the second book, adding Viviane, First Lady. Which seemed like a good idea, until my editor suggested bringing this book to a quicker end and using the rest to start another book..

(sigh)

I could see her point. It did seem as if I’d decided to end the story, got my second wind, and continued.

So then I had three books. Until I had the idea for another book in the series, which was more a “story in a story.” It focused on one character from Book 1–Morgan.

Okay. Back to Book 3, now Book 4, which continues from where Book 2 ended. Right?

Well, yes. Except I have this fabulous idea for another feature story, like Morgan. Which is a wonderful story, if I say so myself. And while I’m piecing together Book 4 , Book 5–The Blacksmith’s Son–is taking shape.

Of course, during all of this, I’ve been trying to figure out how to end the series. How to tie it all together. Which leads us to at Book 6.

No! Wait! What about this guy? Surely he can contribute to the plot of the series. (Rolls eyes) And so we have another vignette–Gregor Thayne.

Book 6 becomes Book 7.

Gregor becomes Book 6.  I think. Maybe.

No, there will be an end to the series. Someday.

Seriously. But in the meantime, enjoy the stories from Esperance.

Black and whiteAll right! I’ve been through the edits and sent them back for a final look, I’ve contacted the cover artist to see when the cover can be ready—

so we can have a cover reveal!

And I’ve been all day formatting the manuscript to I can get it uploaded and ready to go once everything else is in place.

How about a blurb?

Morgan is resigned to living alone after her abusive father and recent attempted rape in Clan Brannach. However, she hadn’t counted on James Ferguson’s green eyes, devil-may-care attitude, or his adorable dimples.

When he went to her rescue, James fell in love with this tiny young woman, with hair of midnight and eyes like the sea. Biding his time, he gave her a chance to heal before approaching her.

How can he win the heart of the woman he loves when she won’t even accept an invitation for tea? And if she does become interested, can she accept those things which set his family apart?

Morgan–Very petite, with black, straight hair cut to chin length and eyes that change from gray to blue, depending on her mood. She doesn’t even reach James’ shoulder.

James–At around six feet four inches, he towers over Morgan, with his green eyes, unruly sandy hair, and dimples.  Add to that his devil-may-care attitude and he’s hard to resist. His family owns the lumberyard, and working with lumber will build some muscle, too.

Watch for Morgan–The Pixie and the Green ManEsperance Book 3.

Black and whiteOne with laughter, drama, temper, and tears? But with a happy ending?

Then you need to listen to Jareth, First Lord, the first book in the Esperance Series. And yes, I asked if you’d love to hear it—

–because it is now available as an audiobook through Audible and Amazon!

Jareth, First Lord was narrated by a very talented young man, Alastair Cameron, of ProAudio Books. He has created a whole host of voices for the various characters in the book. And of course, a beautiful Scottish brogue for Jareth… (sigh)

So, if you’d rather hear your book than read it, give Jareth a try.  Of course, you could always read it as well. I won’t tell.

Black and whiteOK, does anyone else out there pick up accents faster than white cat hair on black dress pants? An Englishman by the name of Alastair Cameron, of ProAudio Books, is narrating Jareth, First Lord to be released as an audio book. He’s using a delightful Scottish brogue for the main characters, since it’s sort of a highland romance. Of course, I have to listen through each chapter as he uploads them to check for mistakes. Like that’s really a chore… (I love his Jareth voice!)

I talked to our daughter, Dawn, on the phone today. First thing she said was, “You’ve been listening to Jareth, haven’t you?”

Ah well, who can resist a highland lord with psychic talents?

Watch for Jareth, First Lord, in audio, near the end of March. It’ll be on Amazon and Audible. If you want to know how I hear Jareth and Viviane, grab your copy!
