So if you’re like so many of us, and don’t have time to read every blog, you can listen instead. Find out what’s happening in my worlds, listen to my short stories, or sample excerpts from my books.
Here it is, Friday the 13th! Are you a superstitious type person? Or do you love things which are a bit paranormal?
I’m not particularly superstitious myself. I’ve always thought black cats were some of the coolest cats around. At the moment, we have two black kittens who are about 6 months old. And they are into everything!
But bad luck?
Not so much. Just very curious. They seem to find all the cobwebs behind the furniture and come out fully decorated with webbing and completely unconcerned. The dog isn’t quite sure what to do with them.
But since it is the season for all things a bit spooky, head on over to my page on Vocal.Media. I have a couple stories over there with bit of the paranormal.
The first is Child of the Universe. She didn’t believe in ghosts. But in that case, who was she talking to? And more importantly, who was talking back?
The second is Moonlight and Shadows. Can you believe what your eyes tell you? Or are the shadows out there in the wilderness of the high desert playing tricks on you?
For something more psychological in nature, check out The Box. There was a place in her mind, a place which scared her a little and which she kept hidden. But sometimes, she wondered if she could take just a little peek inside…
When I was little, my mother read to me nearly every day. And I read to my kids as they were growing up. Maybe you had the same experience growing up.
But where do you find someone to read to you now?
You’re in luck! I’ve decided to make audio versions of all my short stories and musings from Vocal.Media. And this first one is one of my favorites–Moonlight and Shadows.
A paranormal short story set in the high desert area of Wyoming, come meet Shade Shadowstalker, a rather unusual individual who works for the DEA.
Nighttime, under a full moon, your eyes can play tricks on you out there. Can you really believe that what you think you see is real? Or is it just a trick of the light.
Go on over to Anchor FM and listen to Moonlight and Shadows. And if you like what you hear, let me know!
He’d been planning to meet an informant at his cabin. But when he gets there, she’s dead on his floor and an unfamiliar vehicle is pulling away from his drive. Once the local authorities have finished, he changes for the run back to his home in town.
Can you really trust your eyes out here in the high desert moonlight?
Last Wednesday my husband went in for a total hip replacement. While he’s been recovering nicely, things have been a bit on the chaotic side around here. Our daughter, who is a nurse, came up to give me a hand with all the medications and exercises, not to mention keeping the house managed.
So I’ve been absent for a little bit.
What’s been happening in your world?
If you need a break, I have three different “vacations spots” for you to choose from. The fares are pretty cheap and you don’t even have to leave home to visit.
This spot has the advantage of being a slower paced world with a lot to offer in the way of natural beauty. The people are friendly and you might catch a glimpse of some paranormal Talents among the locals. And watch the romances develop!
If you like life in the fast lane, this world might be for for you. Whatever you like to do, you can find it here, from casinos and night clubs to scenic mountains; from white or black sandy beaches to skiing resorts. Just be warned. The law enforcement there is tough on contraband and they have a whole department of shifters to help sniff it out. There may be some who are finding mates, so watch for the sparks!
For this spot we’ll travel across dimensions to a Pacific Northwest quite a bit different than the one you’re used to. Go back to a time where horses and carriages were the main means of transportation in a world where magic is just a part of every day life. And one of the wealthiest men in town is trying to sort out his love life. A weather-shaper and Master of the Fleet, Richard can command wind and water, but can he win his lady’s heart?
Don’t have time for a full length novel? Check out some of my shorter works at Vocal.Media!
No, not like that… I mean as in Vocal.Media, the online place for those of a creative bent to share their work.
I’ve had a few things up on Vocal.Media for a little while now. Sometimes I write about events in the news, or things on my mind. Sometimes I create short stories to share with others.
Either way, it gives people a chance to check out my work without buying one of my longer novels, and for free at that!
Looking for a short fiction work?
How about The Reward, Warrior Priestess, or The Walk?
Maybe something more down to earth…
There’s Diabetic and Confused, What’s Different, and The Digital Age.
Go over, check it out, and if you like it, leave a tip.
Want an excerpt? Here’s something from The Digital Age.
I know many of you have grown up in this digital age, where everything is available online, on your phone, or on your tablet. And I will admit, it can be extremely convenient when doing research, especially thinking back to all the hours I spent in the library before this digital age. College papers would have been so much easier if I could have researched them online.
The thing is, though, that we are now dependent on all things digital. At the moment, I’m having a real problem.
It is an online platform where people can publish their work and get paid a little bit for every view. Or people can tip the author of the article if they are so inclined.
Maybe you’re in the mood to read something short. You might find what you’re looking for at Vocal. There are several categories to choose from, so nearly anyone can find something of interest there.
I discovered them a while back and have several articles available to read. Some of them are musings on this world of ours and how it differs from the world when I grew up. Others are fictional.

Check out my page on Vocal and see if there’s something for you. Here’s the link to my oatest article., Of Wall Street, Reddit, and Total Chaos.
Sometimes I have an idea I like, but it isn’t enough for a novel. Just a brief thought sparked by a conversation, an interesting face, or some musings of my own.
So what to do with them?
Vocal.Media!
I have several article length stories on Vocal from my inner conversations. The first one is about the Digital Age and how dependent we’ve become on our electronics.
The second one discusses how different things are now from when I was growing up on a farm in Ohio. One of our grandsons asked me what had changed since I was his age, which set me to thinking.
The most recent article is called The Box. It came in the form of a dream, touching on the subject of that hidden place in our minds. That place we keep secret from the rest of the world.
What if it were are a real place? What would it look like if you could visit it. And how would you react to what is inside?
The Box, a story about sunlight and shadows, darkness and light.

Now that my short stories are beginning to move, I will be adding my first novel to my Kindle selections available on Amazon. Jareth: First Lord is a romantic fantasy set on the world of Esperance. Our hero, Jareth is First Lord of his clan. A descendant of the original Seekers, his psychic Talent overflows in all directions. Alone again over two years since the death of his wife and First Lady, Jareth finds a new woman to court while in negotiations with a neighboring clan. Taking her back with him as part of the spoils, he now has the task of convincing her to be his wife. But this will be more difficult than he imagined, considering she is a daughter of the First Lord of her clan and as strong-willed as he is.
Jareth: First Lord will be available by September 15th, on Amazon’s Kindle. See my author page for current selections.
