Black and whiteI am seriously peeved with the weather. Earlier this week, when it was 7 degrees in the morning with a high around 25, I was worried about keeping the chickens and baby guineas warm enough.

Today it’s 52 degrees and they look like they’re about to drown outside. Of course they could go back into the chicken house…

So what do you do when the weather is like this?

Write, of course!

I’m working on my next novel, Master of Fleet.

Stay in touch and stay dry!

Ciao!

CommercialOK, it’s not raining right now, but it’s so dark it seems like it ought to be time for bed. Everything is still wet from last night’s rain, so working outside is not an option. Nor is walking Jester, our 100 pound shepherd mix mud-ball.

So next on the list is a good book. I’ve got my comfy chair upstairs in the library and several good books to choose from. There’s Child of the Loch, The Condition, or The Lost Gateway–all books that I’ve bought recently, but haven’t yet had the chance to read.

So what’s your choice today?

If you’re in the mood for romance, like a bit of mystery and the paranormal, check out Gambler’s Folly.  Here’s the blurb.

“Thinking this trip would be a vacation, Karianna’s hopes are dashed when her husband loses her in a bet—to the biggest player in the crime syndicate on the world of Gambler’s Folly. Divorced, widowed and remarried in the space of forty-eight hours, she is now the wife of the tall, dark, and extremely wealthy Damiano Leone, who won her on the turn of one hand of cards. Besides his wealth and good looks, he controls half the planet through the crime syndicate.

As she tries to adjust to her new life, Karianna becomes embroiled in the shifting power play in the underworld. After she is poisoned twice, they take a trip to the beach, which is spoiled when their beach house explodes while they dine at a nearby restaurant.

And just when she thinks life is calming down, she discovers a secret not only about her husband and his closest friends, but a secret her family has hidden for generations—which affects her future far more than the mob on Gambler’s Folly.”

While I took a break from writing, I pulled up some of the books I’ve been meaning to read. The first of these was Coconut Badger, by mark McNicol.

Coconut BadgerCoconut Badger by Mark MacNicol
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Coconut Badger was a a great read. A dark story of a troubled youth, it pulled me into the story as it gained momentum right up to the last page. This book is a page-turner. I finished it in two sittings.

Are you looking for something romantic? Something sensual, with maybe a hint of mystery?

Do you like futuristic worlds where pleasure is king?

What about shape-shifters?

If this sounds like the book you want to read, look no further. Gambler’s Folly combines all these elements. One reviewer says, “Gambler’s Folly is sensual and mysterious.”

A review at Goodreads had this to say–

“This book is smoking hot in an unexpected, underworld kinda way. I didn’t have to read several chapters in before I became totally engrossed. The Author’s engaging style captivated me before the 1st paragraph was done. Gambler’s Folly is a page turner, a bestseller, a literary Hidden Gem at its finest! I can’t wait to read the next book by Mellie Miller. “ (http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/694648347)

Yes, indeed! And I am thrilled with the artist’s concept of the story. She caught all the important ideas in one picture.

I am impatiently waiting for the manuscript to return, so I can look it over again and sign off on the final. My manicurist is going to hate me….

Sorry Diane.

Anyway, watch for the release of  Gambler’s Folly, coming in July.

Ciao, amici.
