CommercialHello everyone! Are you ready for the weekend?

Gambler’s Folly was released earlier this week–July 16–and so far it is doing well. I’ve been working on my next novel, Viviane: First Lady so I can get it submitted.

In the meantime, I’d like to tell you about a Facebook series by Bavarlee Bernstein–Let Me Tell Your Story.

Each Saturday night, Bavarlee introduces new authors reading excerpts from the first chapters of their books.  Gambler’s Folly was featured on one of his programs! Tonight he will be featuring Courtney Phoenix White’s new novel, Anybody’s Somebody.

Just go to Facebook and send a friend request to Bavarlee Bernstein. He will send you a reminder each week so you can tune in for the latest Let Me Tell Your Story.

I will be submitting Viviane: First Lady for him to review.

mem-gamblersfolly1It was entirely too early when Damiano woke her the next morning. Karianna had no idea when she’d finally gone to sleep, but she didn’t feel rested.

“Come on, Kari,” she heard him say, “If you want coffee before your workout, you should get out of bed.”

Not Carl, not today, she thought. She had one man who was overwhelmingly attentive to her, and one who was a fiend in the gym. Between the two of them, she was going to go mad.

“Some honeymoon,” she murmured to herself.

“We can relax and have fun later,” she heard right next to her. Opening her eyes, she saw Damiano, in black silk pajama pants and no shirt, stretched out on her bed. Head propped up on his hand, he had an amused smile, as he watched the succession of expressions on her face. “When you decide what to do, cara, let me know,” he said. “But if you choose coffee and Carl, you should get up soon.”

“What are my other choices?” she asked grumpily.

“You have two choices, mia amore. Your husband or Carl.”

“And if I choose my husband?” she asked.

“Well, then we can stay in bed for a while and see what happens. Like this.” He reached over lazily and slowly drew the sheets from her body. “Nice, cara. So lovely on you,” he commented on the wisp of sheer lace she’d worn to bed. The only lingerie she had was ideal for newlyweds, and very sensual even then.

His eyes slowly moved down her body, taking in the sight. While she tried to sort out her feelings, his hand found the slit in the side of the gown, caressed her thigh, and then swept up and over her behind. Moving closer, he cushioned her head on his arm and slowly kissed her.

Now thoroughly awake with her body at full alert, she knew exactly what she wanted. She wasn’t sure if it was what she should do, though. Part of her was shocked that she would even consider sleeping with this man. Of course, it was difficult to reason with a strong, warm hand taking a tour of her body, having now reached her breast. They were married, after all, she thought, and Trae was gone. It wouldn’t be cheating. Besides, she was stuck with him for two years and he was attractive, to say the least. She might as well get something out of the arrangement.

Damiano decided to help her make up her mind by tracing her ear with his tongue, nibbling her ear lobe and leaving a trail of tiny kisses down her throat. His hand massaged her stomach and abdomen, then pressed in deeply, to massage just below her navel. The explosion of white-hot energy sent her right over the edge.

As her arms reached up to pull him to her, her mouth sought his hungrily, like someone who’d been starved nearly to death invited to a banquet.

“Slowly, cara. We have all morning,” he said, gently taking her in hand, while teasing her even more. Pinning her wrists to the bed and positioning himself between her thighs, but not entering her, his mouth teased her throat and shoulders as she became more and more aroused, aroused beyond anything she had ever imagined.

When he had reached the top of her gown, Damiano shook his head. “Cara, why do you have on so many clothes?” As if see-through black lace actually covered anything.

First the straps came off her shoulders, and then the bodice was smoothed down to her waist, the elastic stretching enough not to be a hindrance.

Continuing where he’d left off, her breasts received his full attention, until she thought she would burst. “Damiano, please, I need you. For heaven’s sake, take me.”

As if he’d not heard a word, his lips continued their caresses down her body, occasionally nipping her skin lightly with his perfect teeth. Letting go of her hands, his fingers stroked her body, squeezed her breasts gently, and nearly drove her mad with desire. Clutching the sheets in clenched fists, her body performed an exotic dance, directed by the caresses of her new lover.

“And here we are again with the clothes,” he said. “This will not do, cara.” Pulling the gown down past her hips and off onto the floor, he shook his head again. “What is this, cara mia?” he asked, his finger beneath the top of the panties matching the gown, teasing her sensitive skin. “No, these we will never see again. Not in my bed.” One quick movement tore the lace from her body and pitched the panties into a corner of the room. “Much better. Now where was I?”

By the time he’d sampled her entire torso, Karianna was beyond begging. With each new sensation, she gasped or whimpered in anguished bliss, each touch of his lips or hands sending her body into a higher and higher state of need and desire.

“So, cara, are you nearly ready for your husband?” he asked, finally.

“Dear god, Damiano, don’t make me wait any longer. Please…”

Irresistibly drawn to Damiano, Karianna enters a world of wealth and glamour in his casinos, while he teaches her the meaning of pleasure and sensuality in his bed. Gambler’s Folly is due to be released July 16!  This will be in e-format, available at http://www.sirenbookstrand.com.

For those of you who prefer print, the print version will be available later. I’ll keep you updated here. So as soon as I know, I’ll pass it along.

And now, for a sneak peek…

“Come, cara, it is a little thing,” he said. Speaking to the crowd of cameras and microphones, he added, “Just this once, capisce, and then we go. We have a plane to catch and a week to relax in the sun.” Gently, one arm around her waist, one hand cradling the back of her neck, Damiano pulled her close, gazing into her eyes.

They had talked about this before they left the room. It was only going to be a little kiss, nothing much. Just one quick kiss to satisfy the press. It must have been the combination of the ring, the press, and cameras which boosted her emotions through the roof. But as he pulled her tightly against him and their lips touched, she felt an electric current run through her entire body, igniting fires in places she hadn’t wanted awakened. Damiano drew her even closer, his mouth insistent, his fingers in her hair now, holding her firmly in his grasp. In spite of everything she’d felt up to this point, Karianna lost herself in the moment, reveling in a sensual experience like none she’d had before.

“Buon Dio, Karianna,” he exclaimed a moment later, catching his breath. Karianna was lightheaded, breathless, her pulse racing, and she wanted nothing more than to be in his arms again.

OK! I got my manuscript back from the editor at Siren, I’ve been through it–again–and just sent it back with my revisions. We’re still looking at a July release of the e-book. So all my friends out there who prefer e-format, it’s coming soon!

For those who prefer paper, it will probably be in November or December. So who’s buying books for Christmas gifts?

And in between revisions and releases, I’m working on a new novel, which I hope to submit to the publishers by August. Wish me luck!

Thanks for stopping by. And keep checking back for more news on Gambler’s Folly.

Ciao amici miei!

Black and whiteI know I haven’t sent anything out lately. My husband, Steve, finally had some time home, so we were catching up on some around the house projects which needed his expertise.

The good new is, I’ve finished my final draft of Gambler’s Folly.  Rather than self-publishing this time, I’m looking for a publisher who’ll take it on.  At 86,351 words (computer count, or 106,000 for print) it is a good sized novel–romantic paranormal fantasy.

Gambler’s Folly tells the story of Karianna, who’s  husband, Trae, loses her in a card game–to the most powerful underworld syndicate boss, on the planet  Gambler’s Folly.  Their marriage dissolved, Trae murdered, she finds she is  married to Damiano Leone, who brings her into  his life of wealth, glamour  and danger.

I’ll keep you posted on it’s publication.  But in the meantime, why not check out Jareth: First Lord?

December is here, and that means most of us will be buying gifts for friends and family. I always enjoyed receiving gifts which would last, that I could keep and enjoy for years to come. One of my favorites was a good book. I still have books from when I was in grade school. And that’s been a while. I also have one of my favorites that I bought for  25 cents at a thrift store one summer, By Right of Conquest, by Arthur Hornblow. It is a romance from another era, copyright 1909. I’ve moved this book from Ohio to California, Oregon to Georgia, and everywhere in between. Every couple of years or so, I dust it  off and enjoy the journey once more.

Why not find a good book for the readers on your list this year?  There are a lot of them out there, for readers of every kind. And if you simply must have something electronic, check out some of the e-readers available. My husband enjoys being able to take his library with him when he travels for work. Since he may be gone for weeks or months at a time, having a good selection of reading material with him helps pass the time in foreign climes.  As a nurse, our daughter enjoys having something small to take with her if she’s sitting up all night with a patient. And our grandson just likes his Kindle because its cool.

Check out the books on Amazon.com. You can buy electronic versions of many favorites, lend them to others, or just check them out of the library. Or if you’re like me and savor the feel of a good book in your hands, you can get those as well.

While you’re there, check out my stories at:

www.amazon.com/author/melliemiller

Or you can buy Jareth: First Lord in paperback at:

www.createspace.com/401003

Have fun shopping.  Keep safe and have a wonderful holiday.

A piu tardi amici miei….
