Well, now is the time!

My alter ego, Sultonna Nadine, has a new book, Whiskey Jug Genie, ready for pre-order. Right now it’s in ebook format, but will soon be available in print as well.

So, what is this book?

Imagine an old whiskey jug, dark brown, and salt glazed from somewhere in the late 19th or early 20th century. Now imagine a young apothecary owner touring the American Southeast, who collects old jugs and bottles to decorate his shop. And he falls in love with this jug.

What he doesn’t know is that it holds one of the djinn–a genie–inside. Trapped inside. By a curse some 200 years ago. A genie who has been out of touch with the world for around 200 years.

Now imagine the shop owner and the jug in a London apartment, as he unstops the jug and releases a redneck genie into the modern world. A genie who insists his name is Bubba, and who can’t get too far away from his jug because of the curse.

While Martin may have a bit of magical and psychic ability, he knows nothing about curses. And Bubba knows nothing about electricity, automobiles, television, or telephones. To him, the whole world is run on some weird form of magic.

Join these two as they try to sort out this curse, while Bubba learns about the world of the 21st century. And as Martin tries to kindle more of a romance with a lovely lady who doesn’t know anything about magic or the djinn.

Where can you pre-order?

Whiskey Jug Genie is available at Books2Read! with links to all the retailers listing it.

So come on in and join the fun as these three try to unravel the problems brought about by a redneck genie in London!

And as always,

Don’t Forget…

Yes! I finished in the winner’s circle of #NaNoWriMo2019, along with many others who participated this year.

What was this year’s story?

Whiskey Jug Genie--a fantasy about a genie trapped in a whiskey jug, only to find himself free in London, England 200 years later, still cursed and bound to the jug.

Is the story finished?

Not yet. I’m still working on the conclusion to the whole affair. But I’ll get there. And it will have a happy ending for all concerned.

What about those who didn’t finish?

There is a camp in April, one in July, and another NaNoWriMo in November. But even those who didn’t finish the 50,000 words this month have gained a habit of sitting everyday to write, or have gained words toward finishing a project.

There are no losers. We all won something.

Anyway, I can breathe a little more easily now. While I will continue to write daily, I don’t have the pressure of a certain number of words each day.

In the meantime, if you’re a writer, keep writing.

If you’re not, keep reading!

Thank you, NaNoWriMo for making all of this possible.

Yes, NaNoWriMo is almost over. Tomorrow is the last day. Those who have reached the 50,000 word goal will be declared winners. And there will be quite a few who will not have attained the required word count, who will be disappointed, frustrated, and wondering if they’re really cut out to be writers.

But no matter your word count, the fact that you started a book and worked on it for a month says you’ve won something. Maybe you didn’t finish as much as you’d hoped to.

But you wrote. For a month.

This could be the beginning of a habit that will see your first book published.

Everyone has different ways of staying motivated, or of making time to sit and write. I go for a walk in the afternoon, come back and stretch out, and with a glass of water in hand, I set the timer for 30 minutes.

During those thirty minutes, I write on my WIP. It may not be award winning prose, but I will have taken my project a little further down the road. If it’s a first draft, I can polish it up later. Or delete the passages I don’t like and rewrite.

But I will have made progress.

And you can, too.

If you want to give it a try, just get a cheap little timer from Amazon or Walmart–or any place you shop–put it next to where you are going to write, and choose your time.

Once that time is near, get your mind focused on your project, turn on that laptop, set your timer, and start writing. You may want to read over the last page or two of what you wrote the day before to get into the flow. But write for that half hour.

If you started NaNoWriMo with us, you are a winner. You may not get the certificate or the T-shirt, but you’ve earned my respect for having signed up and given it a go.

Besides, there’s always Camp NaNoWriMo coming up in April…

But for now, it’s time to get back to Whiskey Jug Genie!

Winter is definitely in the air today. It was down around 30 degrees this morning when I got up. Miss Kitty decided she simply had to go out on the deck, however, and nearly froze her pitter-paws off. Now she’s miffed.

I’ve gotten into the swing with NaNoWriMo, with 3617 words written yesterday. And Bubba is turning out to be quite the character. I do hope Martin finds a way to free him from the jug…

Anyway, I’ll be sitting down to write for today once I have a bite to eat. I’ll keep you posted on my progress as the month continues. With any luck at all I’ll reach my 50,000 words by November 30.

Wish me luck!
