All of my books will be on sale for $0.99 during the month of July, so mark your calendar! Go to my Smashword page and find something new to read.
Today is the first day of summer–the summer solstice–referred to as Midsummer in some places.
According to some traditions, it is the time when the sun and the Green Man are at the peak of their power. Celebrations include dancing out in nature, bonfires, planting summer gardens, and lighting candles.
Some people tie strips of ribbons on tree branches as prayer ribbons, and visualize their prayers as they tie them on.
Whether or not you celebrate the occasion, it is a time to reflect back, on this longest day of the year, while you’re sipping iced tea, with maybe a sprig of fresh mint from the garden to sweeten it a little.
To celebrate midsummer,Morgan–The Pixie and the Green Man are on sale, now through June 30 over at Smashwords! So if you haven’t read it, go on over and grab your copy.
Happy Midsummer!
And don’t forget—
—to Share the Romance…
What if the Green Man isn’t a myth? Maybe he’s just a guy with unusual abilities…
It has been beautiful here for the past few days. Milder temperatures, sunshine, and lovely warm breezes sweeping through the trees and the bamboo around the house.
The type of weather that is a taste of heaven on earth.
It looks like we might be heading back for rainy weather in a day or two, though, which is fine. The tomatoes will enjoy the drink and the bath.
In the meantime, I’ve been writing a few words on Lady Calloway, to be published under Sultonna Nadine, and editing on The Trouble with Talents, the next book from Esperance.
So while I’ve doing some fiddling with these two books, I’ve been trying to figure out book covers. Always a chore. It seems no matter what I’m looking for, I can find anything else. (sigh)
Anyhow, here’s hoping you’ve had a wonderful weekend so far, and will continue the trend.
How about a brief excerpt?
Lady Calloway–
“A man expects a few niceties when he gets home, and a proper kiss from his wife is one of them.”
“Why are you going on so much about a kiss? You know I love you.”
“Do I?” Kerrick asked, exasperated. “And how am I supposed to know that? Your kisses are sisterly at best, unless I press the issue. And in our bed, half the time I feel I’m committing rape. You agree to sleep with me, but show no passion for me. Can you even feel passion?”
Suddenly wanting to know if she could show anything at all, he pulled her to him roughly, one arm firmly around her waist, the other twined in her hair turning her face to his. He kissed her savagely at first, his mouth hard on hers, demanding, before his kiss became more sensual. At first she tried to struggle free, and then, for a brief moment, he felt the beginnings of awakening arousal, before she stiffened into her usual stance—endurance.
“Don’t, Kerrick,” she pleaded with him as he released her. “Please, never do that again. I can’t bear it.”
Yes, I know summer doesn’t officially begin until June 21, but let me tell you, it’s hot outside. Temperatures are up in the 90’s here and near 100 out at the coast. It is way to early for this stuff.
But, if you’re trying to escape the heat, take a seat in your favorite place, grab a book, and enjoy the AC with a nice glass of tea.
Who’s with me here?
What are you reading these days?
If you haven’t read the books in my two series, give them a try. Go on over to Amazon or Smashwords and take a peek.
Esperance is set on a highland world, ruled by First Lords with psychic abilities.
Gambler’s Folly is on a futuristic world full of shape-shifters of varying sorts.
And there is enough mischief and magic for all, along with romance, of course!
Don’t forget my stand-alone, Master of the Fleet, written under the pen name Sultonna Nadine!
So go inside, stay cool and comfortable, and take a virtual trip to a different world.
Have you been over to Smashwords yet? All of my books there are $0.99 through May 4.
So if you feel like trying something new, or have been waiting to buy the next book in a series, head on over to Smashwords. Follow the link to my author page, scroll down, and choose a book to read this weekend.
Yes, it looks like it’s going to be another wet Friday. After last week’s eight inches of rain, I’m not feelin’ it. Know what I mean?
The sun has been playing hide and seek all day long and we’ve had a few small showers, but tomorrow should be wet.
A good day for reading.
What have you been reading lately? Anything to share?
I’ve been reading The Painted Lady Inn Mystery Books, by M.K. Scott and I thoroughly adore them. I like to write fantasy romance, but my reading preferences share the romance with mysteries.
So if there’s a book or series you just love, feel free to share it with us! I need something to read this upcoming rainy weekend…
The weather was something else today, with nearly five inches of rain. My back yard looks like a swamp. But it was a lovely day to visit with our daughter and her family and enjoy a nice girls day out.
It’s Friday night, the full moon is high, and I’ve finished the first quick run-through of an old WIP I drug out of my archives. I think with some work, it will be a good book.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend. Stay safe with all the storms going on out there.
