Today is the first day of summer–the summer solstice–referred to as Midsummer in some places.
According to some traditions, it is the time when the sun and the Green Man are at the peak of their power. Celebrations include dancing out in nature, bonfires, planting summer gardens, and lighting candles.
Some people tie strips of ribbons on tree branches as prayer ribbons, and visualize their prayers as they tie them on.
Whether or not you celebrate the occasion, it is a time to reflect back, on this longest day of the year, while you’re sipping iced tea, with maybe a sprig of fresh mint from the garden to sweeten it a little.
To celebrate midsummer, Morgan–The Pixie and the Green Man are on sale, now through June 30 over at Smashwords! So if you haven’t read it, go on over and grab your copy.
Happy Midsummer!
