Normally I would say yes it is. But after the spring/summer we’ve had so far, I’m not ready to commit just yet. The last time I was sure summer was here we got a cold snap. The beans are up, though, the tomatoes and peppers are blossoming, and there are even a few tiny peppers checking the weather before bursting forth.
So what is happening in my writing world?
Sultonna Nadine’s new book is beginning to get some attention. LADY CALLOWAY--A Question of Heresy is a romantic fantasy with elements of a Victorian alternate reality, duty vs. love, moral dilemma, and strict church dominance. It is a multi-layered fantasy romance with our couple at the center of all the drama. Psychic abilities play into the story as well. I mean, this is Sultonna Nadine after all.
So if you haven’t checked it out yet, go on over and take a peek.
In the meantime, stay safe, stay healthy, and happy reading!

*****
“Author Mellie Miller invites readers back into the enchanting world of Gambler’s Folly with Old Flame, the newest addition to her fantasy romance series blending shifter lore, emotional healing, and unexpected second chances. The novel follows two characters who built separate lives marked by loss, growth, and quiet longing, only to discover that destiny has not forgotten them.
Kort Behrens, a bear shifter and billionaire businessman, has spent years believing love simply isn’t meant for him. Two marriages ended in disappointment, and too many encounters with women more interested in his wealth than his heart have left him wary and guarded. Behind his success lies a man who has accepted solitude as his future, convinced that genuine love is a chapter he will never experience again.
Elizabeth Murphy, a once-devoted wife turned widow, has spent the last four years rebuilding her life with compassion and purpose. Immersed in her Reiki practice and the comforting companionship of her cat, Puzzle, she has carved out stability while quietly carrying the ache of a marriage that, despite lasting nearly three decades, never fulfilled her desire for deeper romantic and physical connection. The idea of dating again feels impossible, if not unnecessary.
Decades earlier, Kort and Elizabeth were simply friends—two young adults navigating university life with no romantic spark between them. After graduation, they drifted into separate worlds, neither imagining their paths would ever cross again. But fate intervenes aboard a journey to Gambler’s Folly, the mystical realm where chance, destiny, and desire often weave together in surprising ways Their unexpected reunion ignites a spark neither felt thirty years ago. What begins as warm nostalgia soon grows into an undeniable connection, forcing both to confront old insecurities and long- held fears. For Kort, it is the realization that love may still be possible with someone who sees beyond his wealth. For Elizabeth, it is the discovery that passion and emotional intimacy can coexist in a single connection—something she has never experienced.
As Gambler’s Folly subtly nudges their lives together, Kort and Elizabeth must decide whether to embrace this rare second chance or retreat into the safety of solitude. Miller enriches their journey with themes of healing, self-worth, rekindled friendship, and the unexpected ways love can rewrite the stories we thought were finished.
With its blend of fantasy, shifter romance, emotional depth, and slow-burn tension, Old Flame continues the series’ signature approach to exploring love through the lens of fate and personal transformation. Fans of the Gambler’s Folly universe will appreciate the familiar magic of the world while discovering a relationship built on maturity, vulnerability, and the quiet power of rediscovered connection.

So, what do you think? Are you ready to take a chance on love with Kort and Liz? Do you love a sensual, slow burn romance? Come to Gambler’s Folly and feel the heat as these two decide whether or not love is worth the gamble.
And most of the folks out there are thinking about gifts.
If you have friends who love to read, especially if they love fantasy and romance, how about a book from one of my series? In Jareth, First Lord, Jareth brings Viviane back to Clan Brannach during the winter. And later in the book, they watch the annual eclipse of the two moons during the winter–
“In the heart of winter the two become one, the past put to rest, the future begun.”
In Too Many Talents, Connell has a winter party with his friends. Think snowball fights using telekinesis and you’ll get the picture.
On Gambler’s Folly, there is plenty of snow for skiing. That ski run down the mountain in the dark to escape from the mob might be a bit more than Kari was hoping for though…
All right, now you have the books. What you need to go with them is something to set the scene, like a candle from Mythologie Candles, candles inspired by fantasy!
Grab your book, something wonderful to drink, light the candle, and settle into the world of your choosing.
Don’t know where to look? Find the book you want and then go over to Mythologie Candles and look through their selection of scent scapes. There is sure to be something there to enhance your reading pleasure. If nothing seems to fit your book, you can always find something for the season, no matter what your taste is in candles. I will warn you, their scents are unique!
Now that you have some of your gift giving sorted, go find something for you to read. And a candle to read by of course.
Enjoy the holiday season and remember to take time to relax.
Her husband lost her to another man on one turn of the cards. And the man he lost her to was one of the most powerful members of the mob on Gambler’s Folly. From small country girl on Earth to elegant and in the spotlight on Gambler’s Folly is quite a leap. Come follow Karianna’s story in Gambler’s Folly!
Dante worked with Damiano Leone and was going to Earth for the first time for Dam and Karianna’s wedding. He admitted to a little jealousy over his friends good fortune. Dante just couldn’t seem to talk to women and had never had a long term relationship. But on Earth, Fate had a little surprise for him. Come share the chaos as wedding plans get underway in Italy.
He’d lost his soul mate 200 years ago. Dmitri didn’t want another relationship. Losing one you love is too painful and he’d done it so many times. Between work and caring for her mother, Danni had no time for romance, let alone a relationship. But once again Fate steps in and deals the cards on Gambler’s Folly.
Go on over to Amazon and check out the rest of the series.
Old Flame is still on sale, so go pick it up while you’re there!

I know. Right? Does it make a difference? The purists say only print books are real books. Anything else is a poor copy, at best. And audio books don’t even enter into the discussion there. Others are fine with print or ebooks, but waffle when it comes to audio books.
Now, I know this is going to make one group or the other upset with me, but here’s the deal. I prefer actual physical print books. I love the feel of the paper, the smell of the ink, and the act of turning the pages to discover what waits on the other side.
That being said, I can’t afford to buy all the books I read, if I buy them in print. And when I travel, the weight of books alone would put me over the limit. So ebooks are easier and more economical for me, especially when reading a new author. Do I want to invest $15-$20 on a book I may decide wasn’t worth the $0.99 for the ebook?
Another thing to consider. Before my cataract surgery, I couldn’t read most print. On my e-reader, I could adjust the print size and the brightness, which allowed me to read while I waited for surgery. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have been able to read at all.
What about audio books?
I love to listen to an audio book while I drive. With road noise, I find music difficult hear properly and get annoyed with the whole thing. But an audio book I usually enjoy–traffic noise or not.
And what about people who are blind or are vision impaired? Should we accuse them of “not reading,” because they don;’t pick up the physical book or e-reader? Must they be shunned because they choose to listen to an audio book? What other choice do they have? I suppose they could buy the print book and have a family member or sitter read it to them. But what is the difference between this and an audio book?
In my opinion, and only my opinion, I see no difference between the three. As an author hoping for royalties, whichever version of my book they buy still means a sale. Someone has chosen to read my book. And this makes me happy.
Folks, let’s not be judgmental. We don’t know the reasons a person is choosing a particular format of their reading material. They are still reading and that’s what’s important. It really doesn’t matter.
Just read!
Or listen.
But if you want to check out my books, or the books by my alter ego, Sultonna Nadine, go on over to Amazon or Smashwords and give them a once over. I also have 2 books available at Audible and one over atApple Books, as Sultonna Nadine.
So, that’s my rant for the day. Don’t be petty. Be grateful for the opportunity to read, however you choose to do it.
It’s another holiday weekend! And that means I’m having a book sale!
So what’s in store?
All of my books at Smashwords are available from now through Monday, Sept. 2 for only $0.99 each! All the books in each series, as well as Master of the Fleet!
So if you haven’t given my books a read, now is the time! Or maybe you started a series, but haven’t had the chance to finish it. Then this is the time to go ahead and indulge. Come on… It’s costs less than your morning coffee!
This has been a week. Still trying to sort out auto and home insurance. Still working on getting things arranged for my husband to retire and get ready for his surgery coming up in about a month.
So the well decided to run low on water.
Yes, we now have aerated water coming out of the tap, which is not a good thing. The question is, do we need to drill a new well or see if they can do something to fix this one?
But at least we have two new little kitties to keep us entertain. Names for now are Licorice and Spook, who are both black, as you may have guessed, and 4 months old. They moved in and took over. Miss Kitty, our long haired white kitty is annoyed. The Lugnut, our 1 year old puppy, is not sure about the whole affair. They’ve taken over his bed and the couch, so where is a dog to sleep? I’ll try to get some pictures later.
In the meantime, when I’m not stressed to the max, I’m editing on Old Flame. Yes, still. I know… I’ll cut it down as I go. And writing on Tiger’s Tempest.
And as for wizards…
Check out Master of the Fleet, by Sultonna Nadine. I could use someone around here who could control wind and water…
So what are you reading?
Drop me a line with suggestions.
Or go over to Amazon or Smashwordsand check out what I have to offer!
In the meantime, have fun. Enjoy the nice weather, if you’re here in the Southeast.
