Though I was beginning to wonder. Ain’t strep throat grand?

So I’ve been under the weather for about a week now trying to get over this stuff. And in the meantime, my brain has been working overtime on a project I had on a back burner from a couple years ago, to write sometime in the future. After I get through the backlog of other ideas I already have started.

But what do you do when your brain won’t shut off, especially in your sleep?

The only thing I’ve found that works is to at least write that one scene, which keeps playing out in your head, where you can deal with it later. When you’re ready to work with it.With a little luck.

Not that it’s a bad story line, or that it’s completely different from what I’d had in mind when I originally had the idea. It’s that I have so many things partway done at the moment. And I’d promised myself, and my editor, that I would finish up all these stories so we could think about getting them ready to publish before I started anything else.

Right.

So what else do I have to finish?

From Esperance, I need to brush up the next in the series, a story called Talents. After that I have another story written and waiting to be edited–Ben of Blackstone’s Forge. And then there is an idea which is partly written called Gregor Thayne, which is not only a story inset into the series, but furthers the overall plot of the series.

From Gambler’s Folly, there are two stories written and waiting to be edited, but they need to sit and rest for a while before I can have a fresh look at them. One is Old Flame, and the other is Scotch and Soulmates. I also have at least two other ideas for stories in this series.

The others are from Sultonna Nadine. There is Lady Calloway, which is nearly finished, but not quite. It is set in an alternate timeline of Victorian England.

Protector of the Red Dragon involves time travel from modern day America back to sixteenth century England and forward again in time to our future. There are paintings which act as portals, magic swords, and a host of tricky situations.

And of course there is Whiskey Jug Genie, about our herbalist from London who accidentally ends up with a redneck genie and the host of problems he brings with him.

And let’s not forget Mistaken Identity and Krista, who is mistaken for something she’s not, and then becomes central to a plan to aid two worlds–both hers and her captor’s.

This is not counting the ideas which are simply ideas of a few paragraphs, like Anya and the Mage; The Dane; two or three other ideas from Gambler’s Folly; a story set on a world of shifters, featuring dragons; The Travellers, following our couple through several lifetimes until they can fulfill their destiny; Sons of Macadam, featuring siblings scattered across the US to Scotland. There’s The Mercenary, Philippe and Mireille, and several others all waiting in line for their turn.

And then there are the two non-fiction books I have started–one on my life since diabetes. The other a lighthearted book concerning the family ghosts.

So why did Tank and Rogue decide it’s their turn now?

Who knows?

They are going to be a lively bunch, I can tell.

Anyway, I’ve got to get over the last of this strep throat. I have too much to do.

In the meantime, go on over and check out what I have already putlished, get caught up on your favorite series, see what Sultonna is up to, and I’ll let you know when there is a new release.

I’m also on Goodreads, so catch up with me there as well.

Now that The Russian is live on Amazon and Smashwords as an ebook, it’s time to get it and a couple others ready for paperback. What with my husband’s knee surgery in January, things have been a little busy to deal with the aggravation of formatting.

And then?

I think I’ll spend some time to finish a couple other books I have nearly finished, but set aside to get The Russian published and out to the world.

There is Whiskey Jug Genie, my 2019 NanNoWriMo project, which is nearly finished–as far as a first draft. In this Sultonna Nadine book, a London herbalist tours the American Southeast and buys an old whiskey jug, not realizing it was inhabited. When he releases the genie in his living room, the fun begins.

Then there is Lady Calloway, another Sultonna Nadine offering, set in an alternate timeline of Victorian England. She’s a small town girl from up North. He works for the church down in London and comes from a family of confessors–psychically gifted people who can bring any sinner to confession, no matter the cost.

And then there is Protector of the Red Dragon, from Sultonna Nadine. A fantasy set partially in modern times and partially in the 16th century, it combines fantasy, romance, and a touch of magic to usher in an era of peace and prosperity involving twin sisters, a magical sword, and a dragon.

While that’s all happening, Mistaken Identity is with my editor going through the initial edits. This is another stand alone from Sultonna Nadine. Captured in a brief military strike against her world from their sister planet, Krista is mistaken for someone she’s not. By the time her captors are convinced of the truth, the commander of the facility has hatched a plan with her at its core. Can she learn enough fast enough to help bring off a plan which will benefit both worlds, without losing her life, or heart, in the process?

And then there are the other books in the Esperance and Gambler’s Folly Series to finish editing. A couple need finishing as well. And some are waiting to be written, with a new idea popping up earlier this morning.

So it looks like it will be a busy year here on the farm. The Monster and Miss Kitty have settled in to give me a hand, so we’re all set.

Have a marvelous week, and if you haven’t checked out The Russian, to over and take a peek. He’s one of my favorite characters, and his mate is a feisty little she-wolf you’ll adore.

It has been beautiful here for the past few days. Milder temperatures, sunshine, and lovely warm breezes sweeping through the trees and the bamboo around the house.

The type of weather that is a taste of heaven on earth.

It looks like we might be heading back for rainy weather in a day or two, though, which is fine. The tomatoes will enjoy the drink and the bath.

In the meantime, I’ve been writing a few words on Lady Calloway, to be published under Sultonna Nadine, and editing on The Trouble with Talents, the next book from Esperance.

So while I’ve doing some fiddling with these two books, I’ve been trying to figure out book covers. Always a chore. It seems no matter what I’m looking for, I can find anything else. (sigh)

Anyhow, here’s hoping you’ve had a wonderful weekend so far, and will continue the trend.

How about a brief excerpt?

Lady Calloway–

A man expects a few niceties when he gets home, and a proper kiss from his wife is one of them.”

“Why are you going on so much about a kiss? You know I love you.”

“Do I?” Kerrick asked, exasperated. “And how am I supposed to know that? Your kisses are sisterly at best, unless I press the issue. And in our bed, half the time I feel I’m committing rape. You agree to sleep with me, but show no passion for me. Can you even feel passion?”

Suddenly wanting to know if she could show anything at all, he pulled her to him roughly, one arm firmly around her waist, the other twined in her hair turning her face to his. He kissed her savagely at first, his mouth hard on hers, demanding, before his kiss became more sensual. At first she tried to struggle free, and then, for a brief moment, he felt the beginnings of awakening arousal, before she stiffened into her usual stance—endurance.

“Don’t, Kerrick,” she pleaded with him as he released her. “Please, never do that again. I can’t bear it.”

I believe the heat is backing off just a little. While it has been pretty warm, it hasn’t been 100 degrees out for a while.

How are things in your world?

I’m working on Lady Calloway, the next book to be published as Sultonna Nadine. Set in an alternate timeline of Victorian England, the church and state are one and the same.

Add in the fact that the church employees people with psychic abilities to seek out and destroy heresies, and “confess” sinners back to righteousness, and you’ll get the idea behind the plot.

Liora grew up in a small village. When Kerrick came through on church business, he is immediately attracted to her. Soon, they are married and living in Londre, where he works in a position between the two halves of the church–the secular and sacred sides of their world.

Three months into their marriage, they are both miserable, and Kerrick finally discovers his wife has been taught and firmly believes the heretical teachings of her priest concerning sex in marriage. As an employee of the church, it is his duty to turn her in for confession, but he can’t bring himself to do it.

Taking a short holiday to the coast, he hopes to convince her to change her beliefs, until his father contacts him and tells them to run. The church has sent confessors and wardens to bring her in. Her village is been decreed to be in heresy and will soon be crawling with confessors and wardens to root it out.

On top of the original heresy, both Liora and Kerrick have begun to develop abilities condemned by the church. If this is found out, they are both in danger.

How will this end?

I haven’t figured that bit out yet, but I’m working on it. In the meantime, Book 3 from Gambler’s Folly–The Russian— is with the editor and should be available later this summer.

Everyone have a marvelous week, and keep reading!

Yes, I know summer doesn’t officially begin until June 21, but let me tell you, it’s hot outside. Temperatures are up in the 90’s here and near 100 out at the coast. It is way to early for this stuff.

But, if you’re trying to escape the heat, take a seat in your favorite place, grab a book, and enjoy the AC with a nice glass of tea.

Who’s with me here?

What are you reading these days?

If you haven’t read the books in my two series, give them a try. Go on over to Amazon or Smashwords and take a peek.

So go inside, stay cool and comfortable, and take a virtual trip to a different world.
